Vice Window Manager
Persistent Desktop Sessions
ViceWM is a VNC wrapper for IceWM. What this does is it gives users of Linux desktops the full features of the IceWM desktop with the ability to logout without ending your desktop session. When a ViceWM user loges out the desktop returns the the GDM login screen to alow another user to login. When a user loges in again they find that their programs are still open and running just as they left them.
ViceWM users can choose to have their desktop session automaticly susspend after a few minutes or never. To quicly suspend a session users need only press the F12 key.
As of version 0.2 there is a new feature to use KDE as the desktop. This was an easy addition and shows that any desktop can be used this way including Gnome, XFE and others.
I am currently using ViceWM to serve desktop sessions on many LTSP servers.
ViceWM is only a collection of bash scripts and configuration files. Developers should easly be able to adapt it for any distribution or OS.
